Today I spent my 30 minutes on a first draft of a ‘book-in-a-box’. As with a few of the Happy half-hours, this piece started from a found item: the 8×10 photo box (see below) that I discovered in the street one night on my way home. I have planned to use this for months years […]
The attached video is a timelapse recorded over 30 minutes from the top deck of the number 8 bus. Today’s challenge was to compose a soundtrack for said video, originally posted as my Happy half-hour number nine. Again the soundtrack was created using Loopy. In 3/4 time. Below is the result.
Today’s 30 minutes saw me creating a stop motion video from the huge pile of envelopes I keep to make books with. One frame per envelope. The music on the video is an excerpt from When I Sleep I Dream by Funkturm.
Day eleven – once again I turned to the stray GQ magazine for this 30 minute collage piece. I may work into this one further at a later date, but this is what I achieved in half an hour.
Today’s Happy half-hour is a series of shots from a 30 minute photo walk around Fitzrovia, documenting the diverse range of typography used for building names in the area. This is what I found in 30 minutes, but I hope to go back at some point and spend more time finding further examples. Note that […]
Or, more realistically, day nein. I made two attempts to create a piece for day nine, both of which didn’t quite work out. A few (user error) issues with my timelapse camera set-up scuppered my attempt at another video, and the subsequent effort at a soundtrack for the (non-existent) video also stumbled somewhat. So the […]
Day eight’s challenge was to create something with the piece of cardboard pictured below, which I found en route home. My idea was to use this to create a 3-D book cover, and create a book inside that is more of a sculptural object, and had pages that were of […]
Day seven. As mentioned on day four, I set myself another Happy half-hour task to create the soundtrack for the day three & four video clip in 30 minutes. Without using a laptop. I have to admit I didn’t time myself for this one, but I spent ABOUT 30 minutes creating a soundtrack, using Loopy […]
The latest 30 minute challenge involved being outdoors, as the weather has begun to get warm. Having played around with the Panorama setting on my phone camera when documenting yesterday’s piece, I decided to experiment with this for today’s piece. Below are a few shots I captured in the half-hour I spent taking pictures. They […]
Today’s 30 minute creative challenge was partly to find something to work with. Fortunately, a stray copy of GQ, some kitchen scissors and a roll of sellotape came to the rescue. Whilst documenting the final collage piece (the original is the width of 3 x portrait A4 sheets), I also had much fun with my […]
