Happy Half-Hour: Three Hundred and Eleven

Currently remastering some old Operation Mind Control cassette recordings for release soon on Personal Soundtracks. In tandem with the remastering and editing, I am also trying various approaches to remixing the original black & white photocopied cover artwork. The covers were originally created without the aid of a computer, using scissors, glue, a photocopier and a typewriter.

This was a project started way back for Happy Half Hour 107 and continued to #140. However, the results were not as anticipated, largely as a lot of the original grainy toner textures seemed to get lost along the way. So I am trying a few other approaches to create artwork that reflects the original cut-and-paste ethos without just rehashing or recreating.

The next few half hours will likely document this process, starting with some initial, minimal re-drawn versions of the first cassette release cover – Incandescence.

More to follow.
